Yes, coocher2009, he was a slave trader who was in a ship heading to Ireland (where he did most of his business) that ran into a storm.
The tune is most definitely Irish, the words are his.
The vast majority of the slaves from Africa where moved through the port of Liverpool and the ships had to go around the north of Ireland to get there.
