This DVD presented quite a few techniques that took easy to grasp patterns and when played fast sound pretty impressive. I think it takes out the factor of being intimidated of seeing those crazy speed licks and thinking that it will takes years to master. Tommy gets you going right out of the gate with impressive licks and it also has some nice gear recommendations. I think it’s a very inspiring video for future lead guitar players.

I thought the title aggressive shred techniques was kind of misleading. I mean, he shows some nice warm up scales and speed licks. But the rest of the DVD is just about his equipment. Plus, the cover reads: “Free ghs strings inside”, where were they? Not in my case.

Don’t get me wrong he is a good guitarist. He is fast and has his pedals and his tremolo skills down. But again, “aggressive shred techniques”? I didn’t see any of that.

Maybe good for learning, but not inspirational for shredding. Sorry.

This video is great, its perfect for those intermediate guitar players that are looking to speed up their techniques. The video has on screen tabs which are a great help, and the insructor (Tommy Bolan) slows down his techniques to help out.
