Looking for a good online guitar school or lessons for intermediate metal?
I’ve been playing guitar for 14 years. I play mostly grunge, alternative and screamo. I’m looking to up my skills and learn how to play metal better. I want to play lead and learn skills like shredding, arpeggios and building up speed. Are there any online guitar lessons or schools that anyone would recommend? Please share your experiences. I’m not looking for really good lessons and I’m willing to pay for a site that is worth it. Thank you for your time.

There is only one site I can confidently recommend for somebody who’s been playing for a while: GuitarMasterClass.net
The only downside is they recently jacked up the subscription cost (it’s about $20/month when paid yearly). It used to be much more reasonable.
But if you have the money to spare, you’re guaranteed to learn some new things, and be enticed with some styles and techniques you’ve never bothered to try before.
I’ve been playing 22 years and I still learn new things and pick up new ideas and whatnot from the site.

It’s a tall order asking for an online guitar course that will meet the needs of someone who’s been playing for 14 years!
There are several courses that seem to keep popping up again and again in the forums:
Jamorama – http://bit.ly/8Yg1Is
Guitar Superstars – http://bit.ly/9KIQWK
Guitar Tricks – http://bit.ly/di5DcZ
Each one seems to take a slightly different approach and they’re all pretty cheap so might be worth a punt. You’re bound to learn something new. I think Jamorama has a specialised Lead Guitar Course if that’s your thing (I think it’s part of the Deluxe Edition).
I’d be interested to hear how you get on.

id say just listen to the music and actually get into it and try and follow what they do. i never picked up a book or got lessons in my life. ive been playing for six years starting out playing green day to now playing stuff like as i lay dying. just listen to the type of music and try and block everything out but the guitars and just try and get yourself into the guitars and practice what you hear.
