The software plays like a book and even though you can skip chapters, the interface is not very intuitive. It starts off with how to hold the guitar and moves on from there so if you’re looking, like I was, to get better at the guitar, you’ll have to skip past a lot of information. Also, the 1/4″ to 1/8″ adapter for your guitar is kind of cheap. Use your own or buy one at Radio Shack. After I fudged with my sound card a while I was able to get the microphone jack to pick up the guitar and now everything works fine.
All in all, it’s not the most streamlined software but the lessons are helpful and informative. Great for people who don’t have access to a music teacher.

Program seems to be pretty old.. it has No Vista suport.. and dosen’t want to work under XP with my Asus M3A Motherboards onboard sound. It works great on my Wifes XP rig. Sucks to have to use her comp.. so as a result i dont use this product, but, i payed close to 50 bucks for it. My loss is their gain. Becarefull buying this product.

Most importantly, these discs and book encouraged me to practice EVERY DAY because I was having fun and learning stuff I wanted to learn. There’s so much content here, just skip to what you’re interested in at any point and find a relatively vast amount of resources. This program significantly raised my playing level, and my daughter is currently loving it, too. Good stuff. Play until your fingers bleed!

3 things you should know:
1)The web site support links are dead, as is the contact phone number. The web site faqs are ok.
2)You will need a full duplex sound card which can record and play back at the same time. Most laptops have half duplex. To check, double click your speaker icon to open volume control, if there is no microphone option then you don’t have full duplex.
3)You will need to run your solid body/pick up guitar through an amp, ie you will need an amp with a jack outlet to external speaker, which you then connect to your computer microphone jack. This is to give power to the signal from your pickups. If you have an acoustic with a microphone type pick up you can connect straight to the computer without going through an amp.
Otherwise its pretty good and the interactive function is really engaging from what I’ve seen so far.

The software would be about okay as Guitar tutor software but it does not include any well known songs to learn (unlike some other packages like eMedia’s Rock Guitar which I prefer). Also, the Comp-U-Pare feature – the main reason I bought the software – does not work and actually crashes the software. There is a support website but it is terrible with lots of broken links on the website (that are supposed to go to pages on the website that are no longer at the given URL rather than linking to missing external pages). In particular, there is a dead link that is supposed to download an upgrade.
